KPV is the C-terminal tripeptide Lys-Pro-Val corresponding to residues 11-13 of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). It is studied primarily in inflammation, epithelial biology and innate-defense models. KPV retains several anti-inflammatory effects reported for α-MSH while lacking the full melanocortin pharmacophore required for classical pigmentary activity.
